Disembarkation Time of Yangtze Cruises

Chongqing to Yichang (Downstream)

Fleet: Victoria Cruises, Century Cruises, President Cruises, Yangtze Explorer, Yangtze Gold Cruises, Changjiang Cruises (except Yangtze 1)

Arrival Port: Yichang Maoping Port.

Disembarkation Time: check out and leave the ship in the morning of the last day. After Three Gorges Dam Site, all the cruise companies will offer free bus transfer from the dam to Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal. You may arrive at Yichang downtown area during 12:30~13:30.

(Please Note: Yichang Maoping Port is 50 kilometers from Yichang downtown area that not so well connected by city buses and taxies. So all the cruise companies will offer the transfer service from the Three Gorges Dam Site to Yichang downtown area with no extra charge. We advise you take a train after 15:30 or a flight after 16:00 for departure.

Yichang to Chongqing (Upstream)

Some Notes for Yangtze Cruise Disembarkation

Sometimes, the disembarkation time will be delayed 30-60 minutes or more by the water level or other unexpected conditions, so please book your flight or train by checking with your travel consultants.

How to off-load luggage

Before disembarking cruise, you should identify and clear your luggage. If you purchase a package tour from us, we’ll offer the transfer services for you to off-you’re yourluggage. For individual tourists, porters are paid one dollar per piece of luggage carried while embarking or disembarking.

Luggage Consigning for Chongqing - Yichang Disembarkation: For the national policy about the security of the Three Gorges Dam Project, no large luggage (exceeding 20cm*40cm*50cm or 5kg) is allowed to be taken into Three Gorges Dam scenic area. You could consign your luggage to Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal and get the luggage consigning document from the cruise staff on the 4th cruising day morning and gather it after you are in Yichang downtown by showing that document. The service is offered by the cruise company and needs extra charge of 25RMB for each piece of luggage.

Local Transfer Service

In Chongqing, Yichang, Wuhan, Nanjing and Shanghai, we also offer local transfer services at a low price for you easily transfer to airport or train station for your next destination.You can meet the local guide and driver on the port bank. Of course, with enough time and energy, you can do the transfer by your own.

Are we able to disembark at a port and explore or shop if not taking part in an organised shore excursion?

Hi Colin,

Greetings from China! Usually if you take the organized shore excursions during the Yangtze River cruise, you are required to follow the tourist team and your local tour guide and finally return to the ship. If you are not interested in the attraction, you can only stay onboard the ship for your personal security.

Greetings from China. For Century Legend, it arranges different shore excursion sites for downstream and upstream cruises. For downstream sailing, the optional shore excursions include Fengdu Ghost City (290 RMB/person), White Emperor City (290 RMB/person) and Ship Lift (218 RMB/person). And for upstream sailing, the optional sites are Tribe of Three Gorges for 290 RMB/person (or Quyuan Temple for 220 RMB/person), White Emperor City (290 RMB/person) and Ship Lift (218 RMB/person). The prices keep unchanged in the whole year of 2018. If you want to take Century Legend to sail along the Yangtze River in August, we suggest you book as early as possible to get a better price.

Going forward I would suggest that in your brochure literature “The Yangtze River Cruise” detailed information regarding secure baggage storage be written for your guests. Thank you for the reply. Do you mind telling me whether you booked the President No.8 Yangtze River cruise from a travel agency like us or by your own? Usually, for guests booking Yangtze River cruises with us Yangtze-river-cruises.com and arriving in the embarkation city very early, they usually would also book the local transfer service with a driver, and some would also book the half day tour with a local travel guide. For such case, the guests could put their luggage on the vehicle before check-in on the ship. And for other Yangtze cruise travelers booking by themselves, they could put their suitcases on the ship or other places with storage services.

Secure luggage storage

Hi Carrie. Thank you for responding to my question. We went to our Yangtze River cruise at port 10 to request luggage storage. They could not provide secure luaggae storage. Our bags would of been left in a hallway with no one watching them. This is unacceptable service. If you were travelling would you leave your luggage in an unsecure baggage storage? Without secure baggage storage we were unable to visit any sites in Chongqing. Regards Gail

Luggage storage

We are arriving in Chongqing early in the morning. We departure on your river cruise later that day. Is there luggage storage at the Chaotianmen Port near pier 10?

Steps to climb when getting off boat

I have read that you may have to climb 50 to 150 steps without railing to get off a boat on the Yangtze River. Is that at Yichang or Chongqing or is that at a particular excursion stop along the way?

Hello Gene,

Thank you for the question. During your Yangtze River cruise, you would have to walk about tens of steps at Chaotianmen Port for boarding. As for shore excursion visit, there are hundreds of steps at Fengdu Ghost City and 99 steps at Shibaozhai Pagoda, and the step at White Emperor City needs about 20 minutes to climb. You could choose to visit the sites according to your interests and physical condition, and watch your steps if go there.

Arriving to chongqing in the morning and cruise embarks at 19:00, is there luggage storage?

For your arrival at Chongqing in the morning, you can store your luggage at Chongqing North Railway Station that is about 12 kilometers away from Chaotianmen Port and needs about 20-40 minutes by taxi. If you arrive at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, you can get to that railway station for about 25 minutes by taxi. Also, if you need to experience the Chongqing half day tour and any other help, please contact us directly!

We are flying to Yichang in early morning. The flight from Shanghai is arriving at 10 am. The embarkation starts at 19:00. Where can we keep our suitcases for the whole day before embarkation? Is there any place to hold our luggage?

Nice to know your visit to the Yangtze River. And before your embarkation, you can keep your luggage in the Three Gorges Tourist Center (三峡游客中心),also called Yichang No. 9 Port (宜昌九码头) for fee, and the operating hours is 7:00-19:00. The luggage keeping service is for fee and you can inquire the service staff (some can speak a little English) for detail price when you are there.
