What Our Customers Say about Yangtze Gold 6?

I used China Discovery Tour Company to book our 4 night Yangtze River Cruise on the Yangtze Gold 6. They also arranged transportation to the Chongqing airport after the cruise ended, our flights to Shanghai, transportation, guide and accommodations in Shanghai.

The cruise itself was interesting, but due to rain each day, our experience was less than it could have been. Although the rain is out of everyone's control, I do think the cruise line could have made more efforts and been better prepared to offer options to those on board. Basically we were told to "rest in our cabins". Ok for a limited time, but we didn't want to spend the majority of our time on a river cruise in our cabin. A nice alternative would have been game or card tournaments, crafts or demonstrations (such as we had a housekeeper leave cute towel animals in our cabin each day - why not offer a workshop on how to make those? or maybe traditional Chinese crafts or talks relevant to the country) Also activities such as billiards were an additional cost, why not open these up for free when there is rain? Because of the weather, most passengers did not go on deck, therefore time to interact and meet new people was limited. The staff was very friendly, and took good care of us in that most passengers were Chinese speaking, they made sure to put us in tour groups where either the guide spoke both Chinese and English or gave the tour in English only. The scenery was breathtaking, food ok. Definitely go for the upgraded dinning. The cabins were surprising roomy and shower/bathroom good. Going through the locks was cool.

We booked our cruise with Johnson Wang, in the Chengdu office. He was very efficient in every detail of our trip and in answering all of our questions and handling our special requests regarding transfers promptly. Would definitely recommend using him as your agent. The trip itself was the three day trip from Chongqing to Yichang, on the Gold Cruise 6. Great staff.

Very friendly and accommodating. The scenery is spectacular and the cruise is very smooth. We signed up for all of the day trips to the historic sites, and although that was quite tiring, we were happy that we did them all. There was an English speaking guide assigned to us for each stop and also for all of our services on the cruise (dining, housekeeping, cruise director etc). Even with the language barriers with most of the other guests, we were all good friends and had a warm send off from everyone at the end of the trip.

Greetings from China! Yes, wines and other drinks and food are allowed to be brought onboard the Yangtze Gold 6, and to your room. However, it is not allowed to bring your own drinks and food to the dining halls or bars on your ship. You can enjoy in your cabin as freely!

Wish you an enjoyable cruise trip on the Yangtze River!
    Dress code
We are cruising soon.. what would be appropriate dress code during the day and also for dinner... we are VIP diners..
    2018-03-04 21:43
    Hi Chris,

Thank you for the question. Usually dressing code for the cruise parties and dinners are not very strict. If you want to join those occasions with better experience, we suggest ladies prepare long skirts (or knee length) and comfortable kitten heels or low heels, and gentlemen prepare casual shirts, casual suits and thin shoes. You could wear as comfortable as you like to enjoy the cruise, but better avoid those too casual items like jeans, round-neck shirts, shorts, sport shoes and clothes, etc.

Enjoy your cruise trip on Yangtze Gold 6!
    Room Upgrade
    Hi Carrie,
Thank you for your wonderful response.
How do I find out more information on upgrading the room? Does this need to be done prior to our cruise or is this something that can be done on the day of boarding?
We have a cruise booked through a tour company in November but they have not provided any details on upgrades or extras.
    2017-09-27 23:01
    Hi Elly,

Thank your again for this question. Yes, it is better to upgrade your room in advance as early as possible since the cruise company could have time to arrange the rooms for you. If you do the upgrading on your embarkation day, there may be no rooms of higher classes available or the choices are less. The upgrading needs extra payment. You could ask your tour company about the details for better arrange your Yangtze River cruise in November.

    Have a great day!
    optional day trips
Hi, what are the prices for the optional shore excursion sites of Shibaozhai Pagoda and White Emperor City? and what forms of payment are accepted on the ship? Also can you please provide details on the meal package upgrade.
    Thanks
    2017-09-27 17:59
    Hi Elly,

Thank you for the good question. For Yangtze Gold cruises, the optional shore excursion sites need extra payment, Shibaozhai Pagoda for 220RMB per person, and White Emperor City for 290RMB per person. If you are interested to visit, you could tell the reception desk and show your room card, and the staff there would register your name on the visiting list. During the check-out period before your embarkation, you could pay all your expense onboard by major currencies like US dollars, British pounds, Euro, Chinese Yuan, also in major credit cards, such as Master Card, Federal Card, Visa, American Express, JCB and Diners Card.
If you upgrade your room, you could enjoy various choices of delicious Chinese and Western food same as that provided in the main dining hall for people booking standard cabins, but the VIP restaurant is better with its more comfortable and private environment, and staff there would give great service during your dining moment in the restaurant.

Wish you a nice sailing onboard Yangtze Gold 6!
What day trips are included in price
Our travel agency charged us for the lessse of three gorges, fengdu ghost city & the three gorges dam tours. But Gold 6 website states it is included. Can you please clarify?!
    2017-09-13 07:07
    Hi Marina,

Thank you for the question. For Yangtze Gold cruises, the company arranges the Lesser Three Gorges, Fengdu Ghost City and the Three Gorges Dam as arranged shore excursions that are included in your price, so you don’t have to give the charge. However, if you would like to visit the optional shore excursion sites of Shibaozhai Pagoda and White Emperor City, you are required to give the pay in site, since they are not included in the stated price on the website.

Have a great trip on the Yangtze River!
