Why Choose this Ship?

We are not really boat travelers, my wife and I, so we were apprehensive about 3 nights and four days on a boat in the center of China even if the scenery is breathtaking. However we booked President #8 from Chonqing to Yishang, trip only, and found the tour very interesting. Having arrived in Chonqing we had no problem finding the boat, 20 yiuan from downtown, and enjoyed the cruise - recommend the dinner wine package - and the excursions - the ones included in price are best. The crew does a very good job of evening entertainment, professional even, and you do not feel bored with all the other events they have on board. No need to have a guide take you to the station or airport at Yishang - the crew will get you on buses to either location on disembarking, without fuss and at a very reasonable price. Good trip and great dam site!!!!!

One of the highlights of our China Yangtze trip was a 5 day/4 night cruise on the Yangtze River on the President ship. The reason we chose this ship is because all cabins have a balcony, yet the price for the cruise was more than reasonable.

The ship is very new, and perhaps that contributes to the very attractive interior design. We had reserved the least expensive twin deluxe cabin which had two comfortable beds, good closet space, an unexpectedly spacious bathroom, and a balcony that easily accommodated two chairs comfortably.

There is plenty of time to sit on the sundeck and watch the huge cliffs slide quietly by on each side of the ship; or to spot goats on steep hillsides; or indulge in a glass of wine on your private balcony and listen to the lap of the water against the hull of the ship. But there was also plenty to do, both on board ship and in the shore excursions. I watched an interesting demonstration of acupuncture and reflexology; there was Tai Chi on deck at the crack of dawn each morning (although I never actually made it to that!); demonstrations of Chinese art and painting.

Are there laundry facilities on board?
2019-05-10 19:21
Hi Lesley,

Thanks for your question! There is no self-service washing machine onboard President no.8, but they provide warm laundry service for guests. If you want such a service, you can just put your clothes in the laundry bag in your cabin and fill the laundry service form or call the reception desk, and then the staff will take them to do laundry and return to your cabin. This service is charged by the kinds and pieces of your clothes. Usually, the price of each piece of clothes varies from 15 RMB to 40 RMB. For example, a pair of blue jeans usually needs about 20 RMB and a piece of T-shirt needs about 15 RMB. Besides, tap water that is purified and sterilized is available in the bathroom of your cabin, so you can also use the water to do some hand laundry during the ship journey.

Warm tip: The price is only for your reference, but do not worry much about that, the costs of laundry service are reasonable.

Hope this helps and wish you a wonderful ship experience in China!

Enjoy your Yangtze River cruise holiday!
Drinks package
Are we able to buy a drinks package whilst on the three night cruise
And if so how much would this cost per person
Thank you
2019-02-03 03:35
Hello Barbara,

Thank you for the good question. The President No.8 provides mainly two kinds of drinking packages for guests onboard. One kind is the drinking package during dining in the restaurant, which needs about 398RMB for upstream cruise from Yichang and about 298RMB for downstream cruise from Chongqing for each guest, and people could unlimitedly enjoy the soft drinks, Chinese beer, as well as dry white and red wines within 1 hour during the dining moments.

The other kind is the package in the cruise bar on the 5th floor, which needs about 650RMB for each guest and covers sorts of soft drinks, Tsingtao beers, wines made in China, coffee, and tea, etc. Therefore, you could enjoy the beverages in the bar before 23:30 every day to spend some leisure time while enjoying the sceneries on the river and the gorges. The prices are only for your reference, and you could know the detailed charges after boarding.

Wish you a memorable Yangtze River cruise onboard President No.8!
Is there WiFi on the ship?

Hi Lynne,

Thank you for the message! Yes, there is Wi-Fi service onboard President No.8, and it is charged with extra fee of about 200RMB/person for one full sailing. If you need that service, please tell the staff at the reception desk directly, and the staff will help you link your mobile phone or other digital device to the Internet willingly, and usually you can enjoy it in some public places like the lobby!

Wish you a nice holiday on President No.8!
Dress Code
How should my family be dressed for dinner? If I don't want to bring a suit. Is men required to wear a sport jacket? and Woman is required to wear a dress?
Thank You
2017-06-15 09:35
Hello Richard,

Thank you for the good question! Usually dressing for the evening meal is not very formal, and a suite and tie for a man or an evening dress for a woman is not strictly required. Just wear comfortable to enjoy the vacation. However, avoiding dressing too casual like jeans, round-neck shirts, shorts, slippers, and so on is OK.

Wish you a nice trip on the Yangtze River cruise ship!
Food arrangement for vegetarians
We will be travelling on 8.06.2017 for 3 days tour. We have been informed that there are less options for vegetarian food on the cruise. Can you please let us know what food is being provided in breakfast, lunch and dinner ?
2017-05-29 20:03
Hi A J,

Thanks for your question! Glad to know your cruise trip to the Yangtze River. Onboard President No. 8 cruise ship, the breakfast and lunch are arranged in buffet style with about 3-4 vegetarian dishes, like cabbages, vegetable and fruit salad, and so on for guests, and the dinner is prepared in Chinese sitting form with some specially cooked vegetarian dishes. Menus for the three meals change every day to offer more choices for guests. Besides, this ship has served many vegetarian travellers from the world and has gained some experience and good reputations, so you can enjoy your food time on the ship!

Have a nice trip in June!
