Wuhan Weather & Seasons

Wuhan is located on the east of the Jianghan Plain and at the junction where the Han River joins the Yangtze River. This city has a humid subtropical monsoon climate. There are abundant rainfall and sunshine as well as four distinct seasons. The average annual temperature is 16.5 °C.

The summer in Wuhan is long and during this time the temperature mostly stays at 37 °C - 39 °C. Yet the minimum temperature is still high, generally at 29 °C - 39 °C. Hence, Wuhan is one of the three furnace cities along Yangtze River.

Autumn starts after October. And the average temperature is 20 °C - 25 °C. It is very comfortable during this season. Winter begins at the end of December and runs through next February, with average temperature 1 °C -3 °C. Spring is back after March with rapid rise of temperature. It is very pleasant during the spring season.

Best Time to Visit Wuhan

The best time to pay a visit to Wuhan is the months April, May, June, September and October which have a nice average temperature and weather.

If you want to avoid the summer heat, escaping to Yangtze River by taking a Yangtze River cruise from/to Wuhan or extending to Wudang Mountain are the good choices.
