With the rise of the Three Gorges Reservoir and improvements in transport, a number of previously untraversed scenic spots have now become accessible from the Yangtze River. However, it is still difficult to get to these areas by boat alone. So, more and more people have taken to land to enjoy the splendor of the Three Gorges. Since the rise of the Three Gorges Reservoir, tourism at the Three Gorges has grown to encompass land-based tourism as well as just water-based tourism.
