Possible Port Change for Special Events in Chongqing 2024

Normally, no matter you take downstream or upstream Yangtze cruises, you usually embark / disembark your ships at Chaotianmen Port (朝天门码头) in Chonqing at the scheduled time.

However, some ships may not be able to stop at Chongqing Chaotianmen Port during special events like:

• Dry period (usually during March, April and May),
• Flood period (usually during July and August),
• ……

Yangtze Cruise Port Change in Chongqing for Special Events

During special events, port would be changed to Fengdu Port (丰都港) in Fengdu County for embarkation and disembarkation. And the Chongqing Maritime Safety Administration (重庆海事局) will inform the news of port change in Chongqing about 1 day in advance. Then, we will inform you once we get the notice!

Fengdu Port is about 150km away from Chongqing downtown, however, travelers needn’t worry about the transportation between Fengdu and Chongqing, as the cruise companies will take the responsibility to arrange comfortable vehicle to transfer you between Chongqing downtown and Fengdu (Fuling for Yangtze Explorer visitors). Since visitors need to gather first in Chonqing downtown to catch the arranged bus, please make clear about the location of Chongqing Jiangbei Airport (重庆江北机场), Chongqing North Railway Station (重庆火车北站), Chongqing West Railway Station (重庆火车西站), Chongqing gathering places and Fengdu.

( Please note: Yangtze Explorer will use Fuling Port (涪陵港) for embarkation and disembarkation for port change in Chongqing during special events.)

Chongqing - Yichang Cruise Embarkation during Special Period

On Day 1 of the Yangtze downstream cruise, travelers should arrive at the gathering place in Chongqing downtown during the late afternoon, and the cruise companies will arrange tourist buses to transfer you to Fengdu Port (Fuling Port for Yangtze Explorer cruise visitors) to board the ship. Distance between Chongqing downtown and Fengdu is about 150km that takes about 2.5 - 3 hours (about 110km for about 1.5-2 hours). The following trip arrangement remains unchanged.

To ensure a smooth transfer, please note that on the first day of the downstream cruise (Chongqing - Yichang), high-speed rails should be scheduled to arrive at Chongqing before 4:00 PM, and flights should arrive at Chongqing before 3:00 PM.

Yichang - Chongqing Cruise Disembarkation during Special Period

On the last day of an upstream Yangtze River cruise, travelers should disembark at Fengdu Port (Fuling Port for Yangtze Explorer cruise) in the morning after breakfast and take the tourist buses arranged by the cruise companies to the dismissing places in Chongqing at the downtown area for about 2.5 - 3 hours (1.5 - 2 hours from Fuling to Chongqing downtown). Trip ends.

Travelers on the upstream cruise from Yichang to Chongqing are advised to schedule their trains after 12:00 and flights after 1:00 PM on the last day of the journey.

Transfer between Gathering/Dismissing Places between Chongqing Airport / Train Stations

Among all transportation ways from Chongqing Jiangbei Airport / North Railway Station / West Railway Station to Chongqing Grand Theater (重庆大剧院), Chongqing Longtousi Tourism Distribution Center (重庆龙头寺旅游集散中心) and Shi Ji Tong Hui Hotel(重庆世纪同辉大酒店）, taxi is the most convenient and fastest way. As Chongqing Longtousi Tourism Distribution Center and Shi Ji Tong Hui Hotel is just next to Chongqing North Railway Station, you could easily get there on foot from the north square and south square of the station (within 2km) or take the local metro from Jiangbei Airport. However, if you arrive in Chongqing at the West Station, you are suggested get that hotel by taxi. Distance and duration as below!

we arrive in chongqing from victoria grace on 11/30. we need to get to chongqing north railway station. please advise us of hoe to do this. also, if we arrive at port at 9 am, how much time should we allow for booking our train ride ti chengdu?

If you are going to transfer to Chongqing North Railway Station from Chongqing Chaotianmen Port, you can choose local taxi after you disembark, and it usually needs about 40 minutes and about 30RMB. As you will arrive at Chongqing Port at 9:00a.m., to get on your train in time, we suggest you arrange your train to Chengdu departing from Chongqing after 11:30 a.m. So you can have enough time for the transfer and ticketing and checking procedures.
