Disembarkation from Cruise Ports

Recently, there are only two cruise lines running on Yangtze river, one is the 4 day downstream cruise line from Chongqing to Yichang, the other is 5 day upstream cruise line from Yichang to Chongqing. Therefore the most important three embarking ports for Yangtze River Cruise are Chaotianmen Dock in Chongqing, Maoping Port and Sandouping Port in Yichang.

① Disembarkation from Chongqing

• Location: Chaotianmen Wharf, Changjiang Binjiang Rd, Yuzhong District, Chongqing（重庆市渝中区长滨路17号朝天门码头）

Chongqing Chaotianmen Dock (Chaotianmen Port) as the only cruise port in Chongqing serves for Yangtze Cruise. Tourists who choose to take the 5 days upstream Yangtze River tour from Yichang to Chongqing would disembark the cruise at about 9:00 in the morning. After get off the ship, you can transfer to private car, taxi or other public transports to catch up your trains or flights.

Chongqing’s terrain is structurally complex and there is no public transportation directly connect with Chaotianmen Dock, therefore for those who are in a rush to catch a train or a flight, we are suggested you to book a private car service in advance. For independent travelers who don’t like walking or transferring between public transportation can take a taxi to the airport or railway stations.

Get to Airport / Train Stations by Taxi - For Independent Travelers

Chongqing Chaotianmen Dock is located at the center of Chongqing downtown in Yuzhong district. It’s about 28km from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and 11km from Chongqingbei Railway Station (重庆北站), check the following chart to get detailed information about Chaotianmen Dock to Chongqing airport or train stations by taxi.

(Warm Note: 1. Distances and estimated times listed above may change according to the real situations. 2. Due to the strict traffic control at Chaotianmen Dock, it sometimes may take you much more than 10 minutes to wait for a taxi.)

Get to Airport / Train Stations by Metro - For Travelers with Limited Budget

If you have enough time and want to save money, you can transfer by metro. The nearest metro station to Chaotianmen Dock is Xiaoshizi Station (小什字). The distance between two places is about 1.7km, need to walk for about 30mins. Metro Line 1 and Line 6 would stop at Xiaoshizi Station.

(Warm Tips: 1. Xiaoshizi Station is about 1.7km away from Chaotianmen Dock, takes about 30 minutes on foot. 2. It is easy to lose your way in the mountain city Chongqing because of the complex network of roads there. 3. ② Disembarkation from Yichang

• Disembark Port: Maoping Port, Sandouping Port (only Yangtze 1 cruise)
• Disembark Time/Place: During 11:30~13:30 at Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal.
• Location: Maoping Port: 200 meters east from Binhu Road, Zigui County, Yichang City (宜昌市秭归县滨湖路东200米 - 茅坪码头)

There are two using ports in Yichang, Sandouping Port and Maoping Port. Only Yangtze 1 cruise would dock at Sandouping port, while all the other Yangtze River cruise would disembark at Maoping Port, including Century Cruise, Victoria Cruise, President Cruise etc.

However, disembark from the cruise is not the end of Yangtze River tour. You would check out and leave the ship in the morning of the forth (last) day, but continue you trip to the Three Gorges Dam Site by bus arranged by cruise company. After Three Gorges Dam Site, all the cruise companies will offer free bus transfer from the dam to Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal. You may arrive at Yichang downtown area during 11:30~13:30.

Get to Airport / Train Stations by Taxi - For Independent Travelers

You can easily get a taxi in Yichang downtown, however it would be hard to find a taxi at Three Gorges Dam site.

(Warm Tips: 1. After Three Gorges Dam Site, all the cruise companies will offer free bus transfer from the dam to Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal. 2. Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal is located at the city center of Yichang. It is about 28km from Yichang Sanxia Airport and 9.5km from Yichang East Railway Station, takes about 40mins and 25mins by car or taxi. 3. ③ Disembarkation from Shanghai

• Disembark Port: Shanghai Port
• Disembark Time: Around 9:00 in the Morning
• Location: Pudong New Area, Shanghai (上海浦东新区)

Shanghai Port is the world’s third largest port and China’s largest seaport. It’s composed of three ports, Wusong Port, Waigaoqiao Port and Yangshan Port. Wusong Port is for domestic passengers providing international cruise liners and Yangtze River Cruise Ships. Century Cruise is the only ship berth at Shanghai Wusong Port along the Yangtze River.

Wusong port is about 37km from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and 67km from Shanghai Pudong International Airport. To save your time and energy, you can book a private car service with us. If you have spare time, you can also spend 2-3 days to explore the Oriental Paris.

There is no subway or public transport directly connect Wusongkou Port to airports and railway stations in Shanghai, therefore the most convenient way for independent travelers to departure from the port is by taxi.

④ Disembarkation from Wuhan

• Disembark Port: Wuhan Port
• Location: Yanjiang Avenue, Jiangan District, Wuhan City (武汉市江岸区沿江大道)

Wuhan Port is located at Wuhan Downtown in the middle reaches of Yangtze River. It is made up of three districts: Wuchang District, Hankou District and Hanyang District. Each district has one train station for you to depart Wuhan, together with Wuhan Airport when you get off at Wuhan port. Earliest flight after arriving in Chongqing?

Hi, we arrive on Century Paragon in Chongqing around 830 am.
I understand the airport is a 40 min taxi ride away.
Would a flight at 11:25 am be a good choice?
Are the boats ever late arriving?
How long does it take to get off the boat and get into a taxi?

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your question! If there is no traffic jam, you can catch the domestic flights at 11:25, but not available for international flights. The traffic in Chongqing is a little bit complex. To leave yourself enough time to catch your flight, you are more suggested to take the flights departing after 12:00. Century Paragon generally arrives on time, rarely late. Getting off the boat and to the street where you can ask a taxi takes about 8-15 minutes. However, it may waste you a lot of time to ask a taxi there, because it is hard to find a taxi near Chaotianmen Port.
If you have already booked the flight departing at 11:25, you are better to reschedule your ticket. And if you do not want to spend much time to wait for a taxi at the port, you can book our private car service traveling from the port to Jiangbei International Airport directly. How long will it take from the river port where she ship docks to the airport?

Thank you for the question. Do you mean you would fly on 23rd or on 24th April in 2018? But, as the sailing calendar we received from the Century Cruises Company, there would be no cruise of Emerald in April in 2018, so may I know where you get the information? As there are two port cities for the Yangtze River cruises, namely Chongqing and Yichang, if you want to depart from Chongqing Chaotianmen Port after your upstream cruise, you could take a local taxi to Chongqing Jiangbei Airport for about 40-60 minutes, and if you are going to take a downstream cruise and stop in Yichang Taohuacun Port, you could get to Yichang Sanxia Airport for about 40-80 minutes by local taxi.
